Gordian III. Æ (13.84 g), AD 238-244. Apameia in Phrygia. Bacchius Callicles, panegyriarch. AYT K M AN ΓOPΔIAN/[O]C, laureate and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right. Reverse: ΠAP BAKΧIOY ΠAN AΠAMEΩ/N, cult statue of Artemis Ephesia facing; behind, two deer, both with heads upturned. RPC 703 (A3/R1) = Winterthur 6551, otherwise unpublished. Extremely Rare - one of two known specimens, the other in Winterthur, this being the finer of the two. Glossy dark green patina. Superb Extremely Fine. Estimate Value $800 - 900
